Type of tour: Local product excursion to Csömödér Állami Erdei Vasút (Csömödér State Forest Railway). Handcrafted goods tastinig only for gourmets.

Recommended period: April to the end of September. (Emphasis on Easter and September - Harvest)

A local product program (about 1.5 hours per product group) with approximately 3 hours (with rail travel) can be organized as an adult or family program, but we also recommend to friends who want to get acquainted with the products of Zala's handicrafts.

Programs

Csömödér (Starting Point From Rail)

The small railway network of Csömödér State Forest Railway is the largest in Hungary, with a total length of more than 100 kilometers.

Cheese and yogurt show

Next to the train station, visitors can take part in the presentation of the "Míves Milk Manufactory" led by Emese Burján 1 hours before departure. The dairy farm is located in Eszteregnye, south of Zala, where the milk of their own cows is processed. Their Yogurts have been awarded an Excellent Local Product Award and their cheeses have won the prize of two national competitions.

Iklódbördőce - Presentation of Mangalica products

The forest railroad is about 15 minutes to Iklódbördőcére. Here you will find a pleasant walk (about 1 km) to the building of IKSZT, where the next product presentation is waiting for you.

Presentation of Mangalica products (about 1 hour program)

Károly Tóth's mangalicas (the stock is around 80) are raised in the iklódbördőce’s breed. The farmer himself processes the meat and produces traditional smoked and cooked mangalica products, loaf, sausage, and hog hides.

At both sites, on request, there is also a possibility to purchase outside of the product presentation.

Basic program: cheese presentation (basic packet pickup) and mangalica product tasting 2700 HUF +1 000 HUF = 3700 HUF / person + special train cost. (starts with a minimum of 20 people)
